Dumbya and Dumber.

Presidential controversy.
First of all, am I the only person in America who thinks it's both interesting and incredibly ridiculous that Clinton is still getting so much political press? Give it a rest friends. I think this proves how truly disinteresting our current prez is. And I've also been thinking that his nickname is missing an m. Shouldn't it be Dumbya?

Then there's this whole Iraq thing.

My friend Macker, poor loser conservative born again Promise Keeper that he is, truly believes that Dumbya can be a political uniter. That the dub is going to unify the political parties? While I appreciate Macker's optimism, I cannot even begin to imagine how that could happen. Seriously: my imagination just cannot take me there.

so this morning my housemate dan is in the kitchen making cinnamon rolls (mmmm... from scratch).

he walks into the den and says, waving spatula, "so, four weeks into it and we bomb iraq?"

"yep." i say and then sarcastically, "i think he's going to be the one to unify our country."

we laugh. no i think we grimmace. and then dan says, suddenly serious, "you know, i think that could be true."

and i think that dan's on to something.

Art controversy.
The new victimology [Salon magazine 02/18/01]
The Catholic League depicts critics as prejudiced and their ideas as hate crimes.
last supper
So, Giuliani and conservatives with nothing better to do are up in arms over a new photo installment in NYC. This time over a naked woman in christ's spot at the last supper. Catholics are calling this a hate crime against catholicism. ha. Salon makes a good point that Catholics don't own the last supper and infact didn't exist as an entity when the last supper happened. People are upset that a naked woman is taking Christ's spot. But the artist says that man is created in the image of god, so why not a woman christ figure? And anyway, isn't she just putting a spin on another work of art? I personally dig it.
