Across the Great Divide. Written by Kate Wolf. My favorite version is Nanci Griffith's.

Evolution of a chalkboard. :) What I find funny is that sleeping with Spazz Kitty is somehow worse than sleeping with the compost pile. And if you are sleeping with the compost pile instead *in* the compost pile... well I can imagine that your own bed would get really stinky and messy.

No new news to report. I'm actually itching to go out and do something else. Anything but sit at the computer.

John-and-Rosemary are here and it is great to see them. It's been a year. Stephan's here, too, so it is old home week. Every week should be old home week.

Last night we got to Pete's about 30 minutes before they closed and there was no one else there. We walked in, all twelve of us, expecting a reprimand; a why-didn't-you-call-ahead frown. But there was none of that. Instead it was, "we've been waiting all night for you!"

Well, great. ;)

The best part of dinner was remeeting Ishi's kids, Dylon and Julia. I love them. They are the coolest kid. We talked Harry Potter and Captain Underpants and I learned a lot more silly jokes. I hope they come over more often.

I said to John, isn't it crazy how many people we know from the house? These people that we never would have met otherwise and who 10 years later are still great friends?

John and Rose live in Arcata and it seems to fit them very well. They look great -- actually have not aged a day since they left. They told stories of protesting the WTO in Seattle and DC. Rosemary's focus in school is Primate Conservation. I'm really proud of them.
