blogs & byes
This is the week I read Blogs. Strangely, they are all gay men. And damn clever and creative. Plus J&S live in nola. My dad used to live in Mid-City and it's fun to read about it through someone else's eyes. All three are terrifically honest and upfront. Just like you happened into their conversations. Heavy-sigh relief after a heavy-sigh week and a half.I'm already realizing how people are going back to the "old ways" before the bombing. Even out here in California, we were still a bit more open and friendly last week. Realizing that relationships are important and that the person standing next to you in the check-out line is actually a human being with a life and family/friends who love them, too. Last week everyone was cutting everyone else slack (including themselves). Driving nicer. Smiling. Being friendly. In some small way it seems as though things are back to Business As Usual and the tenderness and openness has slipped back into the busies and the blases. The Apothetics. The Whatevers. |

Last night was Raylene's good bye dinner. Raylene, I just want to wrap her up. Take an animated picture. Make an album out of her. A ray of goofball happiness mixed with positive determination. She's going somewhere and she's wearing slinky disco pants to get there.
I'm gonna miss her. ;) m. | 09.22.01 |
